Carrie Dean, IBCLC, LMT-CST

I have thoroughly enjoyed a 12-year career as a licensed massage therapist, working with physical therapists, chiropractors and acupuncturists. My clients range from professional athletes and post-spinal surgery patients to prenatal mamas.

I spent some time teaching massage at the Swedish Institute before starting a family of my own and moving to the suburbs of NY.  I currently reside in Larchmont with my husband and two young sons.

I began my training to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2013. I have had the privilege to study with several Breastfeeding Medicine experts in Westchester and Connecticut to gain a wide range of experience and treatment options.

I spent my first year of practice working with a team of pediatricians in their office as their in-house IBCLC, seeing babies as soon as they were discharged from the hospital. I enjoyed treating the dyad so soon after birth to solve breastfeeding challenges before they escalated.  I was also able to sharpen my skills in assessing oral ties, as I assisted many frenotomy procedures. Currently, I see patients privately in the comfort of their own homes as well as our new office in Jefferson Valley.

Aside from being a lactation consultant and massage therapist, I am a certified infant massage instructor as well as a registered yoga teacher. I love incorporating these specialties into my approach with families.

In my downtime, I love visiting my home state of North Carolina. And even though I am a Certified Yoga instructor, my favorite stress relief is going to the boxing gym!

 Cathy Walker, MA, RN, IBCLC

I received my Bachelors in Nursing in 1996 and have been practicing in the field of Maternal-Child Health ever since. I earned my IBCLC Certification in 2009. I have been working with breastfeeding mothers and babies my entire nursing career. I also have a love of teaching. I earned my Masters's Degree in Nursing Education in 2012 and enjoy imparting my knowledge and passion to families. As a Registered Nurse in Obstetrics, I bring an extra level of care when evaluating the parent-infant dyad and family. I am a member of ILCA, USLCA, NYLCA, and the Tri-State Breastfeeding Association. I participate in evidence-based practice and enjoy researching and implementing strategies and interventions that improve patient and client experience and outcomes.

Every day I discover something new to learn in the field of Lactation. It’s amazing and I’m thrilled that I’m never done learning.

My guiding principle is active listening and creating a care plan for families that is tailored to their specific goals and needs.

In my time off, I love to stargaze and geek out on all things space-related. I love connecting with nature and walking with my dog in the woods. I grew up in Westchester and live just over the border in CT with my two adult sons and spouse.
